Union Tavern: Reviews & Ratings
First time visiting this bar in Somerville and had the chance to listen to some live local bands. Personally, for me, great atmosphere, bartender was awesome and I think I met the owner Jerry, and he had me in stitches!! Great time and will be back for sure!!
Full stars for Union Tavern accommodating the event last night. The staff was very professional and welcoming. I had an amazing time! Bonus points for having three bathrooms, which was a lifesaver.
Went to this bar, it's unlike any other. I got amazing service while imbibing on some of the finest adult beverages in Somerville. Even the greasy headed bouncer guy was nice, he was a little sketchy looking, but the owner assured me he was stable. The owner provided awesome repor and the crowd was absolutely delightful. This bar is a must see and truly feels like everyone knows your name. Boston was known for the bar Cheers, but union tavern has surpassed that, best bar I've ever been too.
When I think of Boston—which obviously includes Somerville—my mind doesn’t go to Paul Revere galloping through the streets, nor the championship banners hanging in the Garden, nor even a fresh lobstah roll dripping with buttah. No! I think of one place. One sacred institution. One shining light in a city where the T never runs on time and parking tickets appear out of thin air. Union Tavern. When life hits me like a rogue wave on Revere Beach, when the Sox bullpen blows a lead, when I remember how much my rent costs—I take a deep breath and picture him. The beautiful hunk of muscle behind the bar. A man among men. So skilled, so effortlessly cool, that he doesn’t just pour beer—he bestows it upon you, like some golden elixir from the gods. And the food? Forget about it. Gordon Ramsay himself could walk in, take one bite, and say, "This guy wins." My earliest memory in life? Sitting on my grandfather’s knee as he looked me square in the eye and said: "Kid, three things in life are certain—Death, Taxes, and a great night (or day, if you’ve got the stomach for it) at Union Tavern." And I have lived by those words ever since. I can't even imagine a world without this place. If Union Tavern vanished, what would I do? Move to New York? Start drinking seltzers unironically? No. I refuse. So let me say this...Union Tavern isn’t just a bar. It’s a way of life. It’s the last true stronghold of greatness in a city being overrun by juice bars and luxury condos. And for that? I am eternally grateful. Now, somebody get me a beer.
I've recently started frequenting Union Tavern, and I can't stress how amazing the environment is. It's a cozy space which is perfect for sharing a few brews and some amazing stories with other patrons. I will certainly be back soon!
Attended last night for a queer community event and had a blast! The bartenders were kind and accommodating and the atmosphere was amazing. The drinks were also fantastic! Very comfortable community vibe to it with friendly staff and regulars. Will definitely be returning!
Gerry is a great guy, I highly recommend their special events like Tuesdays.
Couldn't love this place more. The owner is fantastic - so friendly and provides a fantastic atmosphere. This place is a must visit, and you'll find yourself a regular before you know it!
